A message from the GAHMJ Co-Editors-in-Chief

January 13, 2015

Dear Members of the Global Advances in Health and Medicine (GAHMJ) Editorial Board,

Happy New Year!

We are honored to be the new Co–Editors-in-Chief of Global Advances of Health and Medicine. For those of you new to the Editorial Board, thank you for joining and welcome to the team. For those of you who have previously served, thank you for your ongoing support and engagement. The first issue under our leadership (January 2015) is off to the printer, so you should be receiving the print and digital copies soon. Please do review it and share with us both positive and critical feedback. Additionally, an access token has been set up that will allow you to access all journal content once you register: http://www.gahmj.com/r/editboard

As we move forward into 2015, we want to engage our Editorial Board in a number of ways. The first and most timely request we have is to ask you for help in soliciting journal submissions. It is critical that we develop a robust pipeline of quality submissions, particularly original research articles. Clinical trials (pilot and larger), observational studies, qualitative research, systematic reviews, and quality improvement projects are all of interest. A one-page pdf, “Call for Papers,” is attached. We seek to publish research related to four broad areas:

1.     Whole-person care: Physical as well as psychological, social, and spiritual factors influence health and wellbeing.
2.     A Systems perspective: Health and healing are impacted by the structure and function of family, community, healthcare, government, and other relevant “systems.”
3.     Integrative health and medicine: An approach to care that is patient-centered, relationship-based, and makes use of all appropriate therapies, professionals, and disciplines.
4.     Global health: Improving health and wellbeing worldwide by reducing disparities and addressing important problems that go beyond national borders.

First, do you or does anyone on your team have any complete or near-complete manuscripts that can be submitted to the journal for peer review and consideration? Please consider submitting this as soon as possible. If you are in the process of planning or writing a manuscript, please strongly consider submitting it to GAHMJ.

Second, please customize the attached draft email template (Word file named “gahmj-Editorial Board Email Call for Papers”) and send to as wide an audience of your colleagues and trainees as possible. Attach to the email the 1-page pdf “Call for Papers.” Please blind cc both of us ([email protected] and [email protected]) so we can track our outreach. If you are also on Facebook or other social media sites, please also consider using that to get the word out as well. Ideally, we hope each editorial board member’s efforts will result in at least 2 to 3 papers submitted to the journal per year.

Thank you in advance for your help and support of Global Advances in Health and Medicine. Please feel free to reach out to any of us with any suggestions, feedback, or questions.

Warmly,
Rob and Mary Jo
